The lawyer of simple1 is not correct. INA specifically has the language for counting all immigrants (including spouses and children) towards numerical limits, and, we have been working to include provisions to eliminate counting depents towards numerical limits. Doing such extra effort as mentioned in the first post of the thread is not going to be helpful. When there is a bill we should be pushing towards not counting dependents and it is more straightforward. That will take care of the backlog issues to some extent. Admin fixes do not change laws, so admin fix for this is not possible as some suggested

This situation can affect any of us at anytime. My dear husband was diagnosed terminal 4th May 06 and passed 13th May 06, the day he passed my sons immigration cases died with my husband

I searched immigrationportal.com and only found few than three cases in the last three months about H1B denial. The number does not seem to be unusually high to me.

Our law firm (Fragomen) actually sent someone directly to Nebraska on Sunday evening to file the docs at the USCIS office there...They filed Monday early AM.

I and my wife transfer notice by mail. I have no idea, why I received them.
I read on the forums where people successfully called USCIS and got their Receipt Number with their name and DOB. However, they mentioned USCIS that they were waiting for more than 90 days to get level 2 IO support.

Quick question...we applied for NSC on aug 2nd..did not hear anything yet. Just wondering did all of u , whose cases got transfered to other centers get Transfer notices or directly receipt notices.
I am gettign tensed as the days are passing by.

The views expressed in the context of sending grammatically correct letters is appreciated. As such, it would make sense if we can send the same letter, which would not only emphasize the same point but would be grammatically correct as well :)

Sending a grammatically incorrect letter is much better than sending no letter or sending one in Jun-10. From last 2 days, I saw no one doing anything. Hence I sent my letter. Correct, I didn't spend too much time on it. If you so care for grammar when are you getting the correct letter out?

During your conversation with mirage, did you explain to him why it would hurt our cause ? From our discussion in the group, it didn't seem he was aware why IV core was against it.
I think the threat of "ban" is out of place for mirage. Even if you ban his user id, he can pursue with his agenda irrespective of whether he is banned or not. IV core should educate mirage and other focus group leaders than threatening to ban them.

its not just this employer, many f____ employers have same issue they dont want to file 485 and atleast they are trying to delay the process as much as possible. They are fearing that the employees on L visas will have an oppurtunity to switch company if they get their GCs sooner.

I got my receipt notices (485,765,131) yesterday. I had my 140 approved from Texas. Lawyer filed 485 package on July 17th to Texas. I got my receipt notices on 09/18/07 from Nebraska.

Any lobbying for immigration is tough at the time of recession. I think you are trying to do advocacy effort. Without getting approval from core IV group it will not be any use as advocacy effort only will not work. Senators will note your concerns and will act only if some bill is introduced. You need lobbying with advocacy effort for changing any law. Lobbyists will lobby only at right time as if they do in wrong time it will backfire.

Many in this forum including IV admins censored COMMUNIQUE a while back. Now people know COMMUNIQUE was right, because see CIR has no future. It is a waste of time and money invest in lobbying campaigns for pro amnesty bills.
Let's start our campaign for our own bill immediately. There is no motive to wait. We should pay lobbysts and ask them to approach lawmakers using the argument that legal immigrants need a relief without waiting for amnesty bills for illegal aliens.

Average American people should realize the problem of the legal immigrants and THEY should start pressing the lawmakers for resolution. In fact there is a very simple solution - every H1/L1 visa should be covered by a GC option, providing that the immigrant has covered all requirements. And the USCIS administration should be pushed to do their job. Now, cunningly, uncle Sam (I would better say the "Edited" people) allows white collar slaves to come to the US, but hides the GC when time comes.
To be honest, I really believe that in 10-15 years time this problem will not exist anymore. Reasons? Several: First, the main donoring countries of white collar slaves are in process of sharp development and soon this source of "blood transfusion" to US will start drying up. Second, with the aging baby-boomers the need of "blood transfusion" will increase. Third, the high flow of low qualified legal/illegal Latinos changes the fabric of the American society and turns it into a Latin-American country, with all negative consequences, so the need of high tech immigrant component will increase. There are more factors but these three are enough.
So, if we are patient, in 10-15 years time the USCIS administration will start sending invitation ads all over the world, inviting legals and we would become proud holders of GCs :-)
